Chapter 1
Chapter 2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hangeng had picked up Jung Min and placed him on Hyung Jun’s bed. They immediately began to treat his shoulder temporarily. Since they were assassin’s they had never been to a hospital, they didn’t want to risk exposure. The clan had a doctor, thank goodness Jung Min was a pact brother, otherwise there would have been an awkward situation at the hospital.
“HengJun call Zhou Mi while I bandage this up” Hangeng said calmly.
Hyung Jun reached for his phone and dialed the familiar number.
“Yeeeeeeeeeesssssss~?” someone practically sang while answering the other end.
“Mimi gege, Jung Min suffered from a bullet wound in the shoulder and was in the hospital, we found him on our doorstep with an additional wound on the same shoulder” Hyung Jun recited.
“Okay I’ll be right over” Zhou Mi said, and hung up.
Hyung Jun sighed putting down his phone. He went over to his room, seeing his friend hurt like made him slightly angry. He knew he had to be emotionless and calm, especially when it came to pain or death, but this was just too much. The only thing worse would be if his gege had gotten hurt. About 10 mins later, there was a knock at the door. A tall man with red hair falling over one eye pushed past Hyung Jun and went straight into the room. Hangeng got shoved out of the room, and the door closed behind. Hangeng just went over Hyung Jun and dragged him to the couch.
“Just let Mi work HengJun. You know how he gets when he is focused” Hangeng said softly, as he stroked Hyung Jun’s hair.
The door to the bedroom opened.
“Hangeng, I need to talk to you” Zhou Mi said quietly.
Hangeng headed over and took Zhou Mi into his room to talking, it was something Hyung Jun didn’t need to hear.
“The hospital really did not do a good job. The bleeding was still really heavy, and the stiches they put in unraveled, probably causing a great deal of pain. The stab wound is making everything worse right now. I am going to have to put some of the special herbal medicines on it, but first we have to cauterize the bullet wound and sew up the stab wound” Zhou Mi stated.
Hangeng suddenly felt a pain of remembrance on his back. When he had first started as an assassin an enemy clan had attacked him and he had gotten stabbed in the back. The bleeding was terrible, and Hyung Jun had to carry him home. They had to cauterize his wound, he remembered how much it seared with pain. Now he had a strange scar on his lower back.
“I need HengJun to leave, he can’t put up with this. To kill is one thing but to witness pain is far worse” Hangeng said slowly.
Zhou Mi nodded slowly.
Hangeng went over to where Hyung Jun was sitting.
“You need to leave HengJun… at least for a couple of hours. I don’t want you to relive painful memories” Hangeng said slowly and softly.
When Hangeng had his back wound cauterized, Hyung Jun was sobbing and shaking at the tortured expression on his blood brother’s face. He felt the pain also. When it was done Hyung Jun tried to run forward but a younger Zhou Mi held him back. He had felt so helpless.
Hyung Jun just embraced his gege, just merely remembering his tortured face, when he tried not to pass out from the pain.
“Okay I’ll leave…” He said softly.
It was night, he just wanted to relieve some stress, so he got dressed in his assassin outfit. Just wanting to jump, flip and soar to his heart’s content. As he was opening the window, he heard a muffled scream, and he jumped out into the night.
Hyung Jun was trying not to think about the pain befalling his friend back at the apartment. He just jumped all over the buildings, running, and falling into the darkness. To him this was his escape, to feel the cool night air as he soared was pure freedom. He was a different person once he was out at night, not held back by mere emotions. About 30 minutes had passed, he was just looking up at the moon from a rooftop.
He looked down into the darkness below and saw a figure running. When the person was in the moonlight, Hyung Jun recognized him, it was Hyun Joong. He was running with his gun out and it looked like he was chasing another person. Curiosity took over Hyung Jun, so he slowly followed them from the rooftops.
Hyun Joong has cornered the man, and with his face expressionless, he shot the man, and started to walk away. Then out of another alley came a horde of 8 people with bats, and knives. Hyun Joong was out of bullets, he just tossed the gun aside and ran. Hyung Jun was on the rooftops witnessing all of this, and followed him close. Hyun Joong stopped and turned around ready for a fight, the horde stopped and looked evily at the hitman.
Hyung Jun jumped forward off the building and landed in the middle of the confrontation. Hyun Joong looked really confused, who was this? Hyung Jun just looked up and turned towards the horde.
“You have a choice. Either stay here or leave” Hyung Jun said in an eerie voice.
One of the thugs stepped forward.
“Who the hell does this guy think he is? Hey freak Halloween isn’t until October. Go back to your mommy these streets are for big boys” the large dirty man jeered.
Hyung Jun just remained still, he had a steel gaze over the whole group. The large man, seeing he wasn’t the focus of attention, made a swing at Hyung Jun. Within a couple of seconds, the larger man was on the ground passed out. Hyung Jun had only touched him once, you gotta love pressure points. The rest of the group, just slowly picked up their friend, and backed away, then proceeded to run off without looking back.
Hyung Jun just let out a chuckle, and turned towards the building ready to jump back to the top.
“Wait” He heard a voice softly say.
He turned and looked toward Hyun Joong, who had an odd expression on his face. Hyung Jun kept his eyes emotionless, so he wouldn’t reveal who he was.
“You should have just let them kill me. My life has no value, I have taken so many others that my debt is past” Hyung Joong said slowly.
Hyung Jun just walked over to him, until he was standing right in front of him.
“Life… is not something we measure the worth of. You are a lost soul, wandering alone in the darkness, go and find that light in your world” Hyung Jun said stoically.
He turned again towards the darkness.
“One more thing. What are you?” Hyun Joong asked.
“You are just going to have to find out” Hyung Jun winked before leaping up, and escaping into the darkness.
“Find the light huh?” Hyun Joong just shrugged and headed home.
~~~~~

Jung Min’s procedure had gone well, and he was resting. Hyung Jun had just returned and was in the shower. Jung Min was resting, and he had an IV drip going in him. Zhou Mi was truly one of the greatest doctors in the world, he had managed to seal the wound, and speed up recovery time with his special medicinal mixtures. Hangeng was calm, he was in the kitchen drinking a glass of water, tired from assisting with the procedures. Hyung Jun came out of the bathroom, and paused in the doorway, watching Hangeng roll his head around. It was well past 1 am, and they both had work in the morning. Hyung Jun hugged Hangeng from behind resting his chin on the older male’s shoulder.

“You should sleep HengJun, you have to be in the coffee shop at 5” Hangeng said softly.

“I will gege. You know, you are my light in this world. I could have never lived on without you” Hyung Jun said slowly.

Hangeng ruffled Hyung Jun’s hair.

“Me too HengJun. We feel like real brothers despite being born of different origins. Remember I will always be beside you. Forever” Hangeng expressed.

“Gege~” Hyung Jun mewed and he tightened his grip around the older male.

“You are being so mushy today, you are tired. Time for bed” Hangeng said in a teasing tone.

He then led his brother to his bedroom, where they slept next to eachother, just like the old days.

~~~
“Umma? Appa?”a small child cried out.
The car was turned sideways, there was a small fire coming out of the hood.
The child couldn’t move, his legs were injured and he could feel a large gash on the side of his face. He repeatedly called out for his parents, but no response came. Slowly tears started leaking out of his eyes, as the car became fully engulfed in the flames.
Hyung Jun’s eyes shot open, and he sat up immediately. He held his head in his hands, and he had broken out in a cold sweat. His breathing refusing to slow. Hangeng slowly opened his eyes and mumbled incoherent speech. When he saw Hyung Jun, he immediately put his arms around him. He knew what dream his brother had, it was the only dream that kept Hyung Jun awake at night. A single tear escaped from Hyung Jun’s eye. Hangeng forced him to lie back down and started stroking Hyung Jun’s arm slowly to help him calm down. Hyung Jun just laid into Hangeng’s embrace, and heard humming coming from his brother. He closed his eyes focusing on the sweet humming, not thinking about the terrible flashback he had.
“HengJun it’s all right. Shhhhhhhhhh” Hangeng said softly and cautiously.
Hyung Jun breathed in an out slowly, his nerves slowly sinking back into their original states. He opened his eyes and saw Hangeng’s worried face.
“Gege…it was that dream again” Hyung Jun said in a slightly shaky voice.
Hangeng just hugged him tighter, because he knew he was Hyung Jun’s only family since that day. They laid their still until they slowly drifted off to sleep to not waste the precious hour of sleep they had left…
Siwon had been racking his brain since that day, when he met that mysterious killer. He was definitely a suspect, but was he sure he killed him. The way he described the murder wasn’t exactly convicting, he hadn’t told he actually did it. There was 2 of them also. What confused him the most was that they spoke chinese. Siwon was suddenly thankful he had taken chinese in college, otherwise he would have been lost when the sentence was said at the murder, that one sentence “May your soul be clensed.” That phrase was the key to finding out who they were.
Siwon had been in his office for 48 hours straight, just trying to find information, going all over the internet, and drinking a plethora of coffee. He was shaky grumpy and tired. Kyuhyun was trying not to break as well, he was tired and grumpy, often sending scowls at people walking by their office. Siwon just let out a big sigh, and his head fell face first on the desk. Kyuhyun was sympathizing, when a thought came to him.
“Wait you said they spoke chinese right? There is a chinese bookstore just down the street. Maybe there is something in there that can help you. Plus you need to get out of here Siwon. I am gonna take a break too” Kyuhyun said tiredly.
Siwon sighed in defeat, and got his coat, slowly putting it on.
“Okay… but don’t be gone too long” Siwon replied quickly.
He headed out of the door.
Kyuhyun sighed. He needed a cup of coffee…
~~~

Kyuhyun headed to the coffee place about a block away. It was early afternoon, so there was surely no one there, he would like the quiet.

He headed in the store, and was greeted by a taller man storming past him mewing out someone’s name. He had been pressed up against the entrance and almost knocked over as the red head blew past.

“Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnngggggg Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnn” Zhou mi mewed.

Hyung Jun just turned around to see the red headed chinese man barreling towards him, and he embraced him.

“Mi gege! You visited” Hyung Jun said, then he saw Kyuhyun. “And you also squashed a customer” Hyung Jun added dryly.

Zhou Mi just went over to Kyuhyun and peeled him off of the entrance, forcing him to sit down.

“See now he is fine” Zhou Mi replied dryly (A/N:italics means chinese)

“He was still a customer Mi gege, you shouldn’t go around squashing them” Hyung Jun said with a chuckle.

Kyuhyun just looked up and glared at the two of them, he had gotten squished and now they were talking chinese. Hyung Jun took note of Kyuhyun’s expression.

“We should switch back to Korean… Mi gege” Hyung Jun said slowly.
Zhou Mi shrugged and sat across from Kyuhyun.

“I’m sorry if I have caused you any discomfort. Let me buy you your coffee” Zhou mi said in slightly accented Korean.

Kyuhyun just nodded slowly, not having the energy for a fight, so much for quiet. Hyung Jun got them both coffee and sat down himself next to Zhou Mi. They sipped their coffee and had a couple of awkward moments when Zhou Mi cracked.

Zhou Mi was talker he couldn’t go more than a minute without talking, and he like to ask questions. By the time the coffee was gone, Zhou Mi knew all about Kyuhyun’s family, what he liked to do in his free time, and most importantly what he did occupation wise. Kyuhyun was too tired to give any explanations and simply spilled everything. He missed the glint in Zhou Mi’s eye when he found out he was on the mysterious death case. Little did he know he was in front of people that were part of the secret…

~~~
Hangeng was the only one in the shop today, someone had called in sick. He was in the backroom when the bells for the door jingled.
“Hello?” a low tired voice called.
“One second!!” he called back.
He had maneuvered through the boxes in the backroom, and around the corner, who he saw was kinda shocking to him. He pulled back, luckily Siwon was checking out the bookshelf in the front and had not seen Hangeng yet. He took a breath and rounded the corner with a warm smile.
“Yes?” he said in his soft voice.
Siwon turned around and froze. He was expecting an old dusty chinese man, not the young man that walked up to him. He was tall, slender, and his face was breath taking. The thought didn’t even occur to him that this would be the very same assassin he met the other night. Siwon snapped out of his daze with a hand waving in front of his face.
“Oh sorry I haven’t slept in awhile… I spaced out a little” Siwon admitted.
“It’s alright. So can I help you with something?” Hangeng said and shot him a devastating smile.
Siwon had to shake himself out of another daze. Hangeng was just thinking about how much fun it was to play with him, and took it a step farther.
He took a step forward and slid his finger from below Siwon’s eye down his face.
“Sleep is good for the soul and body” he said slowly.
Siwon just took a step back, looking like he was about to pass out. The without sleep for 48 hours finally caught up to him.
“Hey, are you-“
That’s all Siwon heard before he slid down the wall and plunged into darkness…
