First, let's start with the dance Mal and Inara do as Inara first tries to find out just what on Earth is going on. There is so much finesse involved! I found it fascinating how she was reading him and responding based on her own instincts as well as guidance from Zoe. *blushes* Gosh.... thanks so much and I'm sooo pleased you found this part fascinating. And yes, it was definately instance specific as you say, and still kinda sad, but I think it's very important to portray their marriage as real as we can, so that not Everything is perfect... and as you said, even with Alley

There was nothing about this that I didn't love. I find all of Sushi Fic like that, but this one shone so very brightly in my gray, gloomy, house-cleaning-while-on-vacation kinda day.
And on a juvinile note, thanks for mentioning that he as still naked for this argument. It really added to the expreience.
I don't think you're childish and wrong to think it added something... I see it as revealing how comfortable they are together at this point, that the fact that Mal is naked doesn't distract him from the argument at all... not that it would, really, based on his attitude about his nakedness in Trash...but still... being naked while arguing could make one feel vulnerable, but it doesn't have that effect on him... it's teh state in which he is in, in a good percent of his interaction with Inara...
