Our grocery offers two types of rice in any sort of quantity for sale. One is jasmine, the other is a Pakistani rice that comes in burlap and in a  HUGE amount. Are either of these ok for sushi? I"m kinda limited on choices unless I shop online.

you just make sure that the rice you choose is more white and creamy. there is usually special rice for sushi. check out your local delicasy stores

We don't have things like delicacy stores here in Oswego, not like that anyhow. No asian food stores, nothing like that. Just plain old grocery. Just P&C and Price Chopper. So it's this rice or getting online an d ordering. Which isn't a massive issue, but I'd rather avoid it.

I am not accustomed with jasmine rice, but I think it is acceptable. You just need to consider that the rice you'll use must have a sticky consistence and I believe that would be the pakistani rice.

Hope that helps.

I kinda hoped it was the pakistani. Our stores are getting much better about what they carry for ethnic food, but as I heard someone say today, Oswego is about 20 years in the dark ages.
