For people out there who may be in-the-know (boglin, scarybex, wicked_sky?) - I could do with some advice on finding a satisfactory resolution for some cute but stray cats.
Well RSPCA apparently only come if a cat that's actually a pet is being deliberately mistreated, however I don't think these cats really class as 'pets' as such, so it's not in their remit to do something. Have found some info for Cat's Protection, Battersea Dogs Home (inc cats) and another cat rehoming charity - it's important to me that they're not taken away by someone who will then put them down, if that's at all avoidable.
I got my stray from Mayhew and my impression from them is that they never put a cat down - my cat had been there for six months before it came home with me.
yeah sadly I live 100 miles away from where the cats are, otherwise I'd be able to keep a closer eye on them. Have found some numbers and will see what organisations advise.
Hey! I have a London friend who's looking for 2 new kittens! They're last cats eventually died aged 20 and 24 and his mum's a bit lonely! I can't see how to message you (am I being thick?) If you message me I can give you his number.
Have tried to message you via LJ, it said it's sent successfully so hopefully you got it? If you go to your 'home' page in LJ it should say somewhere near the top 'Messages' (underneath where your username is displayed)
RSPCA... they could intervene if there's evidence that your associate is not looking after them.
If they are happy to give them up, Team Cat Rescue is where we rescued Lila from. They're Birmingham based, small and they will not put down a healthy animal. This woman keeps cats in large cages in her garage she's that passionate.

There're a lot of rescues listed there, and also a lot of people involved in rescue who post on the forum.
