Things really were easier when we were kids, weren’t they? As children, our lives were marked by clear signposts guiding us towards the next logical step in our development. The graduation from each elementary school grade to the next was a greater watershed moment than the previous one. Somewhere between third and fifth grade, it wasn’t cool to ( Read more... )

Guilty as charged - the 150RMB all-you-can-eat/drink did not make me pause to think of the kids in Ethiopia, or in Xi'an.

But that bit...how much time do we have left, to fuck things up...hmm...

With wedding invites flooding my mailbox in Singapore, and not being to attend them because I'm in Shanghai and that I really don't want to answer questions regarding my orientation...it sure is a tick-tock issue for us. But who's keeping count!

Yes, reconnect and have a blast! Here's to more language-exchange partners, REALLY!

after nearly half a year of diligently crafted journal entries, you have given me my 5th comment. I suck.

I read your site and I like your taste in music and bootlegged DVDs. I haven't met a DVD store I haven't walked into yet, and today was searching all over the place for "Irreversible." I figured since there was no chance I was going to be able to see "The Passion of the Christ" anytime soon, I thought I'd revolt myself cinematically some other way.

I'm bored out of my mind, with no job and old foreign films that I bought, but end up not watching in favor of "Zoolander." It's nice to find another soul in the LJ wilderness out there, though with the Shanghai scene out here, we might have met a couple of times already.

Peace,
Eric

No shit, I'm craving comments myself too but I guess having a response via your LJ is good enough. Your observations of negotiation in Shanghai are wicked! And I don't mean just the shopping affair at Xiangyang, but the negotiation of sexual politics at clubs as well...hey try the nachos at taco popos above Judy's Too on Maoming! Good if you're around the area, hungry and still up after midnight.

And the office smells like shit now though.

Anyway, I've got a copy of "Irreversible". I'd gladly lend it to you, only if you tell me that you really just want to see Monica naked.

My choice of raids is currently along Zhaojiabang Lu/Ruijin Er Lu. 8 RMB for the DVD-5s, 13RMB for the DVD-9s. Might not be the cheapest but I'm ok with it as long as I don't have to walk too far from the office/apartment.

We could cross-check our stash if you like. Gimme a mail or something and we could comb Shanghai bare together.
