In the grand scheme of things, it's trivial. Beyond trivial. But for some reason, the delay to transition from analog to digital just pisses me off. I don't know why. It doesn't affect me (or the vast majority of people) at all. I can almost guarantee the government ran out of coupons because people didnt know what the hell they were doing and

I'm in the same boat. Doesn't affect me at all, but the delay annoys me, mainly because I expect some favoritism is going on. As you said, at least they are allowing stations to switch on the 17th if they want.
