I feel like i have just stepped out of the gloom; I'm still on the precipice, curling my toes around unsecured pebbles and footholes- but the sun is beginning to shine in, a finger of light at a time

I was and I wasn't, my diet got a LOT worse in Japan simply because of stress and expense at the beginning, and somehow I just fell into bad patterns (also working a desk job, ugh).
I'm convinced it's candida... so far anti-candida measures seem to be working, despite a HORRIBLE toxic reaction at first. ;)
As Astrid asks, what do you think it is? It seems strange to me that your/anybody's body would need a very strict regimen unless it's limitations due to physical intolerance to something.
I don't/didn't want to go into gory details, but basically when you lack stomach acid and digestive bacteria... you get an overgrowth of yeast, which is foul. I didn't think it possible until it started exiting my body anywhere it could, including my snot. (Okay, so I did go into gory details...)
And, because I didn't explain that well enough; yeast overgrowth gives you a "leaky gut", making you unable to absorb vitamins and minerals. It also feeds off sugar and alcohol- and while in a healthy gut with enough bacteria and so on it would feed off sugar just fine, when you have overgrowth it just takes over. So for now, no sugar/carbs/alcohol... and it's working.
