It seems to me that your topic is more necessary than ever, given your recent realization. If the best of all possible worlds is not possible, and yet we still must muddle through somehow... then the question becomes, how the heck DO we muddle through? Why are we even still here? What keeps us from giving up in the absence of hope? Because of your unique life experience, perhaps you have greater insight to that than any of us, and maybe by writing down your thoughts, even if they feel depressing or pessimistic, you can tell us what you believe is true.
I wish I were there to give you a hug and talk to you in person. Be sure to share your struggles with your advisers and talk to the other people in your program. Sometimes all we really need to get through is just to know that we're not alone.
Thank you Whit! I had a good talk with Alison and what you said too, helped me focus a bit better. I think my topic got too muddled up with all kinds of things, and just taking a step back and realizing that it is important to me, helped me.
Thank you again! I am hugging you right now, totally. Though if you ever do want to talk just email me and we will figure out a skype time. :)
