And another thing!

Rosemarysutcliff.com reports that Blue Remembered Hills, the 1983 autobiography of her life pre-writing career, is being reissued by Slightly Foxed.

John from Australia has a tape of the 1970s The Eagle of the Ninth miniseries converted to DVD and is apparently willing to send copies to interested commenters on rosemarysutcliff.com ( Read more... )

I vote that whoever risks international postage first burns it for their fellow countrymen. Countrypeople. Something. We could have a network. :)

I, um, really want to see this.

Oooh! *jumps up and down in excitement*

I've requested a copy, though I am wondering if the poor sod will regret the offer when he realises how many people want it.

Fingers crossed this might lead to a DVD release!

Heh, yes he probably will, unless he enjoys being generous. I assume people are reimbursing him for the disc and shipping, of course.

I'm not holding my breath for an official release, humbug, etc., but I'll settle for a leak to the internet.

I have to say that I was not fond of Blue Remembered Hills. Maybe because it was her pre-writing life, not her writing life, but I found it rather dull.

ETA: also, I just watched the 'tiny excerpt' of the 1977 miniseries available on Youtube, and OH YES WANT.

I liked BRH well enough, and it explained certain recurring character dynamics for me, but yeah, it isn't exactly what I want from a writer's memoirs.

I really just want to laugh for six hours at Esca's facial hair, if I remember that clip with any accuracy.

Fantastic. I've asked for a copy too, and happy to copy it on for UK people.

I have agreed with John that I'm happy to do copies for people in UK. If anyone wants a copy they'll have to send me their address. My email is sistermine6 at gmail dot com.

I'm afraid you tube is beyond me and my talents!

Thanks, sistermine; hopefully you'll have some takers.

(I admit I'm vague on the details of YouTube too, and you're already being more than obliging!)

trying again; apparently my first attempt to post a comment was marked as spam - because it's an OpenId account?

Anyway, I offered to make copies for the USA and John accepted. lj user="seascribe" offered to help. Once I get the dvd and test the copy we can proceed. I doubt I can get it onto a download site but I will see what I can do

Sorry about the eaten comment - I've had the problem before with OpenId on LJ.

Thank you for offering to do this! And no pressure at all about a download - I don't wish to impose on your (and seascribe's) generosity!
