awww, what's the name for a baby banana? I was literally just five minutes ago watching a television programme about the origin of the word banana and it said banana was from the arabic word for finger.

I didn't know that about bananas. First of, in Spanish they are male (we have genre for nouns) "Banano" and the little ones are just "bananitos" (little bananas.) Fingers make sense since in Spanish a bunch of bananas is una mano de bananos (a hand of bananas.)
By the way, Spanish and Arabic are like cousins since the south of Spain was occupied by Arabia for many years. We have a lot of words from that language.

bananitos! I like that. bambino bananitos.

It's very easy to forget sometime just how Islamic Spain is, and actually how important Islam and Spain are on England. The Queen is a descendant of the Prophet Mohammad through Isabella of Castile [Prince Hal's Aunt] for starters.

I don't know actually. We call it chira, the farmers say that when it shrinks the bunches are ready. I'll keep you informed on the development. It takes like 2 or 3 months from now till the bananas look like bananas. Then, we have to fight the birds, because they love the fruit. It is odd, because we had another harvest last year. My mother was the first one to see it and she came to the backyard every day to take a look. One year exactly.
Other funny thing about banana trees is that they have baby banana trees. We don't have to plant them, they reproduced by themselves and when the old tree dies there's another right next to it. That's why they say that these trees move, because the new one will be inches farther than the old one.

You can see the youngest tree on the left, stretching its leaves to be in the picture. Show off.

it has cause to show off, i've never seen anything like it, to the point that i dont know what words to use to describe the appendages. Like where was the flower for the pollination, that's what I cant figure out, does it have one flower or many littler ones that all need pollination.

Wow, that's a lot of bananas! The whole pod thing must weigh a ton when they're ripe. Do you have to climb up to cut them off?

It is like 6feet, I just need a chair and big knife (machete) and that's it. It is really heavy and juicy. The liquid like glue, stain your clothes forever.
One interesting thing is that the inside of the banana peel can be used to smooth mosquito bites and to shine your shoes. Funny facts aren't they?
