I am SO CONFUSED by help_haiti. Not in a bad way, just in my usual 'trade! on the internets! oh my!' way, which means it's going to take me a good hour before I can work out how the hell I do stuff. But I'm going to do stuff! And you should, too! And all that!

I think my best route right now is to bid on the stuff I want, and wait for the next round to offer things?

well, people are still bidding, I think? I mean it's open until the 20th? so, if you advertise in your journal and coms, I'm sure someone will still bid.

Yeah, but the only thing I've got to offer is some kind of 'British Box' arrangement, and idk if I'd be able to get that out in time for Feb. If I was just doing fic, or offering something I had going spare, I'd do it now.

I figure most people have, tbh! I am just slow.

Aw, bless you. I donated a little bit the other night, but I figure I can send even more if I'm getting fic/socks/biscuits out of it. Which sounds more immoral than it is, honest!

I offered a fic under my fandom LJ and I've only had one bid, I'm kind of wondering if it was even worth it, hahaha. Everyone else I know is up to like, $40 or more, and I'm on $10. Failure.

Oh, still worth it, of course! I think it varies pretty wildly- I saw one person who only had one bid, but that bid was £50. And then LOADS of people haven't had any replies at all. It just depends who sees your offer and when, I guess? Especially in a big fandom, with lots of authors offering.

Well, if I had a big old bid like that, I wouldn't feel so bad! :P I'm trying to decide if I should pimp my thread on this LJ or not, since I honestly don't know if I have anyone on my flist who'd be interested in a Star Trek fic.

At least I'm doing my bit, I suppose!

I think she's a big name Who writer, so it makes sense, I guess.

Haha, I was going to ask if you write anything non-Trek. Can't hurt to mention it, though?

I'm amazed by the amount of money and aid that's been raised. It's great to see so many people and countries rally like that. They're still pulling living people out of the rubble!

It's really wonderful, isn't it? People ftw.

help_haiti is the shit! I did lightening round and put bids on other stuff. It's a nice way to donate money and enable fannish projects. I didn't offer anything because I can't trust myself with deadlines, but I figure money is more important at this point anyway!
