I specified carbon steel for a batch of hilts, which needed to be tough.

I did'nt expect them to be so tough that they're harder than armourclass' blades.

Just as long as they aren't brittle! Bit of a bugger to work on though I imagine.

they're really well tempered - ring like a bell when struck, and so far seem reliable.

I am, alas, clearly hitting midlife crisis, though, as I'm finding myself thinking that powertools might be a good idea after all...

Ypu know powertools make sense! The more the better!
