Why I’ve got my handy stud-notcher right here! :-p (As a side note, Word doesn’t think “notcher” is a word.)
I love your sink! Especially the face that it’s a double bowl. Angus’s little carved detail is really cool, but I’d agree with you that you might need something more pronounced. I’m so glad Angus is working out.
I like the look of glass front doors, but it depends on what you’re planning on putting in there. I kinda wish we’d done glass front doors on the cabinets where we keep our glasses and dishware, because they all match each other and the room. But if you’re planning on putting cereal boxes and cans of food in there, I’d do solid, since those tend to be really gaudy and ugly.
The glass doors are neat looking, but they lose some charm when you can see boxes of Hamburger Helper and instant oatmeal through them. Honestly, I don't know who eats exclusively sufficiently lovely things to have glass doors. I do like vertically ribbed glass quite a bit, and it disguises the products within.
Also think the sink detail is great, but too small for the scale.
Yes, I agree. I think glass doors are for very large kitchens where there are also *solid* doors for hiding things like Hamburger Helper (perish the thought!) and instant oatmeal.
Now, Ms. Ramilly - since this is your first comment here, please tell me: might you have been a "princess" in a former WC life?
Suzuki this is Bellefior from CC, I followed your link to here from there. About the glass doors. My MIL has them on her top kitchen cabinets and deals with it by having little curtain type things inside the doors so you can't see in. I know that's probably not the look you are going for, but thought I would throw it out there anyway!
Actually, those curtain things sound just like what I always planned to do in the kitchen in my last house, but never seemed to get around to. Are they sheer? Or are they solid? I can see sheers doing what patterned glass would do, but still looking authentically "period."
But your mother-in-law lives in Cranston, right? Think she'd mind a visit? ;-).
You know, if you can believe it, I never looked close enough to see exactly what the little curtains were made out of but I want to say that maybe its a heavy lace??? Next time I'm down there, I'll have to check to see exactly what the material is. All I can say is that whatever they are, you can't see inside the cabinet. (And yes, my ILs do live in Cranston, and MIL doesn't mind company as long as she has advance warning notice! She hates what she calls "crash-ins"!)
