I think it's going to look great. It is a nice light airy kind of wood and I think that will make the space seem open and clean--which is great in a kitchen.
We picked it up from the freight company last night because otherwise we would not have received it from them 'til Wednesday, and it needs to "rest" in the room where you intend to install it for 48 hours. I think it bodes well that it's sitting stacked up in there and I still like it. ;)
By the way, have you decided one way or the other about laminate? (Your thread on CC.) I still wonder why you think the wood floor is beyond refinishing?
No, I have no idea what's going on in the floor because we can't pull the carpet up yet--tenants in the unit. I'm hoping and dreaming that the floor will be just fine and we won't have to do anything to it although I know that would just be too much luck.
I guess I have to think ahead mentally to the renovations we could "afford" (not really afford, but pay for) just so I know that we can make the house livable before we move in to it. I was trying to figure out if laminate could be part of my mental calculations.
It's like a psychological thing! This house situation totally stresses me out!
