Then a carefully hand written letter is sent, asking for money to be placed at an anonymous location to be picked up by a third party. After the money is retrieved by the third party, the kidnapped person is given to the third party and returned. A key rule is to never allow the person that is kidnapped to see the kidnapper's face.
