Unlikely - difficult to believe anything that comes from Iranian state television, and if it was us, or the States, or even Israel on the osiraq principle, we'd be unlikely to miss.

Although we shall probably have to do something at some point if the German and French led negotiations don't produce something useful.

Mmm, a nuclear Syria.

No, Israel is definitely one of the countries we have to thank for the fact that Saddam never got nukes. America in that era less so. Good job someone learnt the lessons of the 30s, anyway.

Here openeth a new chapter of speculation and paranoia. An ideal confusing background for warfare... :o/

The possible reasons are far too many to bother mentioning, including:
- Iran looking for an excuse to draw attention to their pressured situation.
- An Iranian military exercise gone wrong, and everyone's saying "I dunno" to hide it.
- Someone like Israel taking a pot-shot (an own goal, if the wind is blowing the wrong way).
- An emergency procedure because of malfunctioning aircraft kit.
- Bernard Manning lit a fag just after eating mashed potato.
