They are doing the core program and the points program. I do the points.
The best tips I can give are these:
1. Drink all your water. 2. Drink the milk twice daily (as it gets rid of belly fat). 3. Go to your meetings, you never know when somewhen will give a recipe that is both low in points and high in taste. 4. Don't get discouraged. My first month I lost 10 pounds, but some weight has been slow to come off while some has fallen off. 5. Eat all your fruits and vegetables. BTW vegetables are zero points so they are filling and good for you.
I went shopping over lunchtime and now have a car full of veg, so I'm hoping at least this week to lose a few pounds. I do get discouraged easily, but I also know that I'm the sort of person who will only lose 1/2lb every week however hard I try!
If you want to lose weight its one of the best though. My dad was saying that it was the only one that he actually lost real weight with... which makes me wonder why he's going back on Atkins??? Guess cuz you get to eat more on the low carb diet?
I lost on it about 8 years ago but put it all back on and more. I've been in and out several times in the intervening period but not had any success :(
I guess Atkins is a "quick fix" isn't it? I would try it but I can't live without carbs!!
There should be diets that you dodn't have to think about! Have you tried Slimming World? From an observer's perspective, it seems to me to give a balanced diet, and avoids certain combinations (mainly "avoid mixing animal protein with carbs in the same day") and energy-dense foods. There are simple points allowances, but it becomes second-nature very quickly.
However, they make their money from selling information that you couldn't work out yourself. Their fundamental guidelines are the only essential part of the diet, but they offer you on-line subs that give you fancy calculators that resemble complicated logic networks - I think the new parts are just there to 'add value' by luring you in to their subscribed information services.

Yeah, I was trying slimming world at the start of the year but I just don't lose any weight on it. It disagrees with my body!!
WW now have a new plan which is SW-ish in that you have "unlimited" foods but from a very restricted list. However, you can have meat and pasta on the same plate which is a little more real-life ;)
