questions to pursue and ponderhyperfocusedMarch 1 2006, 11:04:16 UTC
Hi there. There are a couple of issues I've been wondering about. First, the 'only artists can join the comm' thing. While I totally get the need for secrecy, I'm wondeing if there's a way for we writers to bond in discussion too. From browsing throough the LJ for the HP version, I know they did this somehow. Possiblities might include a separate SVBBWriters comm,or perhaps a regular "Writer's Post" to which we could comment. I know I'm realy going to crave the encouragement (and occasional kick in the ass) from my fellow writers.
Also, I need some clarificaion on the "no crosovers" rule. I know we can't have characters from other media interacting with ours, but can we use boorrowed settings or literary styles? i.e can we put SV characters in a Steinbeck pastiche Kansas, etc. (No, that's not my plan at the moment)

Well, it's "only artist can join the comm" because it's the easiest way for me to distribute the stories. I want to talk to the artists in posts rather than emailing everyone, which I think would tend to be unreliable.
As for writer support, I was planning on posting a few times just to check in with everyone, but I have no plans to create another community. But yes, I will try to be encouraging! And have posts so everyone can help and support each other. I want this to be a fun challenge, not stressful. *nods*
Re: no crossovers -- there's no problem with using literary styles. There's a restriction on crossovers because artists said they were concerned that they wouldn't be able to find source material. But I don't think that would be an issue if you decided to use another setting, etc.
