Wow... pretty funny that you called it that first. Are they really gonna call it the maize or is that a joke? If indeed that's what athletics dept is calling it, I think it's really kinda cheesey. Why'd they have to drop the "golden" part anyways?

Three of us were talking and one noticed it looked like corn. The 2nd said "that's called maize" We made some cheesy jokes and then noticed the pun-potential and that it seriously had a ring to it. So far the response has been crazy awesome.

Somewhere between 0-11 and not getting in the Big East, UCF fans overall have been a little defensive and kind of a downer....we need to laugh at ourselves once in a while, it's healthy! What better way then saying "Our arena looks like corn. We're okay with that."

Anyway - the Golden thing was part of the huge push for change. I get it, from a marketing perspective, it's almost like "hey those last 10 years didn't happen!"

Oh - and no the athletics dept. isn't officially calling this the maize and probably never will unless the thing takes on a life of its own.

LOL! That's what I meant. It's funny, but I thought you meant it was for real. I totally agree about needing to laugh at ourselves. It's not like we've never had a losing season before, though. I hope we have another winless season this year to piss off all the season ticket holders- I couldn't get tickets to a single game. I don't completely understand the business of it all, but it seems dumb to me to sell off all your tickets as season tickets and not save any for general admission. Well, other than students, but I can't get in as a student. I guess I'll just have to start rooting for FGCU... oh wait, they don't have a team yet. LOL!

We haven't sold out out season tickets. They may not be selling single-game tickets yet, but they will likely be available once they do.

If we should sell out (28K or so) you will still have an opportunity for walk ups for any game where the visiting team doesn't use their 5,000 ticket allotment for that week. I think only Texas will use theirs.
