Ah, I personally found these two books pretty helpful, myself:
http://www.amazon.com/Perspective-Comic-Book-Artists-Professional/dp/0823005674
http://www.amazon.com/How-Draw-Manga-Manga-Style-Perspective/dp/4766119142

Besides that, a lot of sketching from real-life locations and painful attempts to draw-perspective-until-it's-right is the only option :D;;;

Pie or cake?

P.S. Thank you again for drawing a happy turd in my DC book at ACen. I think most other artists would have been seriously weirded out by that request.

Oh wait! I got it! It was Anime North! (wow i suck, but ACen and AN have REALLY similar dealer rooms...) Okay... yeah this isn't so much a Q & A anymore as me just being lame.

Also Cake Rocks, but no one can beat my mom's Apple Pie with 5lbs of apple in it. awww yeah... XD

So uh to make the post relevant... Q: Ever wanted to cosplay?

Questions! anonymous November 10 2010, 21:19:00 UTC
Seems like most of my questions have already been asked! ;D (i.e. Coming to Texas, and continuing Dramacon... BTW, my sister says "Hi, love your work, please continue Dramacon!" with various emoticons following ;] )

Ooh! How did you get the idea for Nightschool?

...If Alex's astral had a name, what would it be?

Will Mr. Raccoon ever get his own story??

In Dramacon, where does Matt live? At the end of book 1 his phone number is in a 707 area code, which happens to be the same area code my friends and I live in. It's been driving us crazy for years, as we all attend college and practice martial arts in this area. xD

H-he obviously lives in your area 8D STALK HIM!!
What area is it, btw, and what's the college? *research senses tingling* I got that area code off a friend of mine who lived around there, but forgot to ask what the geographical location was :D;;
...Man, now I want to make more Dramacon all over again ;___; I thought I made my peace with that...

The area is Sonoma County. Wine country in CA. It's about an hour north of San Francisco. There are two colleges I know of in the area, one being the Santa Rosa Junior College and the other being Sonoma State University. :3

I am incredibly in favor of more dramacon, so excuse me as I chuckle at your plight. >:3

just recently, I've found that sensation of just not wanting to draw (not art block, I know what to draw just dont feel like picking up the pen) not from depression but from the lack of interest because its starting to become 2nd nature to me.

It kinda feel like I"m at a threshold. what is it that you had to do to feel "challenged" when working and not 'unfulfilled'?

hope I make sense.

PS, sorry I couldnt make it at the very end, family issues.

Heeey, Laurie, how are things? I figured soemthing important must've come up, no worries :) I hope it all worked out, I certainly understand well about family circumstances!

What you are describing sounds like a plateau--I have hit several in my years of drawing and I actually feel like I have again reached one now. They are a major drag :( What usually helps me is trying to break new ground--looking at styles drastically different from my own (but ones appealing to me), dissecting and trying to recreate them in a piece of my own. This usually results in finding new exciting tidbits to fold back into my own style. For example, recently I discovered how much fun it is to ink with a brush and on a larger size paper! It helps to make new discoveries about the drawing medium, and luckily there are plenty of those LOL Hope this is helpful!

a plateau? sounds about right, I always thought it was a bad thing 'cause you have to be consistent' but I think I might try what you suggest.

I'm still 'young' in artistic years so might as well try to experiment more.

*for your next project, are you planing to use brush a large paper? what brush do you use?

I am very tempted... But I don't know if I'm comfortable enough with that process yet, it might endanger my work schedule if I start experimenting. I'll be trying it for some personal work.
I use the Pentel pocket brush--it's great, refillable and travels very well.
