This OTP always makes me wonder if Gwen would eventually cheat on Arthur not with Lancelot..but with Merlin, Arthur's best friend.

LOL, well, it certainly would have had the emotional impact that the A/G/L triangle never managed since Lancelot wasn't really close to Arthur. It seemed like they had something in 1x05, but they were never like that again. =( Part of me does wish they had gone the A/G/M route ... it would have been REALLY interesting and emotionally wrenching and gyah. But then again, I don't really trust that the writers would have handled it well ... *sigh* I guess that's what fic is for, right?

You've brought up an excellent point - having Merlin betray Arthur cuz they are both in love with the same woman was something I've wanted to see since I started noticing how Gwen was crushing on Merlin in S1. Not gonna happen like, ever, but hey I'm wishful like that...We all know that Merlin is loyal to a fault, to Arthur *sigh*

After watching "Lancelot du Lac", I'd have to disagree with Morgana - I think that Merlin was Gwen's first love, not Lancelot. Puppy love but love all the same, right?

No, I don't think that the writers would've handled a A/G/M triangle well - they've not been very good at handling my favourite relationships (even before S1's filming began). Liquid dynamite, they are, lol.

Yes, exactly, but Merlin/Gwen fanfics (not counting threesomes - loathe those!) have always been thin on the ground :'(
