There have apparently been talks about making a movie of Arthur C. Clarkes astonishing novel Rendezvous with Rama ever since it was published in 1972 - and it now looks highly likely that it will happen, with none other than David Fincher directing it, making it quite likely that it will be excellent

I don't know, I think it could still work out if people understand that they're seeing the original source. Tolkien must be second only to Shakespeare in terms of people ripping off their stories wholesale, but the films were still well received.
