Then the Welsh do too. Petition to make St. David's Day a national holiday in Wales.

Saint David's Day should be established as a public holiday in Wales in the same way that Ireland has a bank holiday on Saint Patrick's day.

Oh come on - St. George's Day a bank holiday? That's so impractical to be laughable. It's always going to be aweek before May Day (and I'm *not* giving that one up) and up to only five weeks after Easter.

So, yeah. Give us bonfire night instead. (Or "Better Luck Next Time, Catholics" Night...)

Whilst I like the idea of an extra Bank Holiday very much, I do agree with Andy that it would create an absolute glut of them in March through May.

Much better to have an extra one in October/November-ish, when the weather is really shitty and crap and you feel miserable, and there's just no respite between August and Christmas.

Somebody's pimping for Trafalgar Day - which IIRC is October 21st. Sort of makes sense.
