Hi Daniel
I’m sorry you’ve had to wait a while for my comments on your Hings document.
I am attaching the document with my tracked changes. Daniel, I have to be honest with you and say that you’re not hearing the British accents well at all - and I have taken into account, with this last sound file, that you would not be familiar with the British brands of washing up liquid, for instance. I have also reviewed your previous two documents - Iris Swain and Huw Edwards -and very reluctantly have taken the decision not to proceed any further with your application to work as a transcriptionist for Way With Words.
Thank you for the time you have spent with the assessment exercise and I wish you well in your future career path.
Kind regards
Wendy Morgan

Well, okay. Guess I have to search for a new job sooner than I thought. Although they did say they could "discontinue at any time should we feel that your work is not to the standard we require", these last few documents I've typed up for them were presented much more as "training" than "assessment and continued application". I'm a fast and accurate typist, so that isn't the issue, but apparently I'm mishearing a lot with the British accents I'm not used to, as well as the British brands and names and various other things they don't expect me to know. Every document comes back with more corrections than I expect it to need when I send it in. Or perhaps it's only partially that, and equally that they have 5 zillion applications right now from qualified people out of work, so they can afford to be pickier than usual. That's probably also true.
Even though $8/hr wasn't necessarily the best pay rate, I was really excited to have a job as flexible as this one, which would allow me to really pursue music without relying on it for my paycheck. It was also important that I would be able to take a relaxed pace with any new job search, because I wouldn't NEED it. It would just be a potential upgrade, if I could find a job that works for me and pays a bit more. I guess I can still get by with the choir job, and hopefully that band will move on soon to the stages where it can actually earn me some money and form some part of my income in addition to a little fun, but I'm again in the position where I earn just enough to get by without rent/utilities. And I have to jump into the job market with all the other well-qualified people who still can't find work in the current economic climate. Which means I could be stuck in that position for a long time.
Oh, and the choir job takes a break for a few months in the summer...so if I don't find another job by then, I won't have any income at all for that time. I have sufficient investments, and parents, that I won't starve or anything, but this is not good. I need work.
