Rape Kits

I've been unable to wrap my head this. In a town where Libertarianism has apparently run amok and tax payers do not feel that they should be burdened with trivial things such as justice for victims of violent crimes, why is the focus mainly on rape victims? I mean, why not privatize the entire police department? If you're a victim of a crime, ( Read more... )

It's simple, Freddy. See, every baby is part of God's divine plan, even (and especially) when the father of the baby is driven by uncontrolled lust that causes him to force himself on unsuspecting women or family members and inseminate them, because clearly that is God's will, and how dare the good, Christian taxpayers be forced to pay for Devil's work of aborting such a beautiful product of that holy union!

If you're liberal, commie mind weren't so enflamed with jealousy over a VP nominee who's prettier than any of the others, you'd see these things clearly!

Alaska's rape rate is nearly 3x the national average, so ladies, remember to take your prenatal vitamins when in Alaska. Remember, you are prepregnant and with all that rape, you have an extra high chance of being blessed.

I had no idea that the Christian Right had so much influence in Alaska. I thought the Libertarian spin they were putting on this was bad enough, but does this really come down to the emergency contraceptives included in the kits?

I guess it's not the whole state. Apparently, actual humans had enough influence in the state legislature to force Wasilla to stop this bullshit.

I had a heavy heart when I wrote this post this morning. I don't want any of my friends to think that I'd be willing to use something as serious as rape as a tool for political hackery. But it also didn't feel right to remain silent. Some things need to be discussed even when doing so feels weird.

But it should be addressed because it is such a serious issue. That's not political hackery. That's distribution of information.
