so my cat, charlotte, is not well. the vet thinks that she has a stress-induced urinary tract disease. its not an actual infection, but her body responds as though she has a u.t.i. we will find out for sure after they test her urine next week. if it is because of stress she may have to go on anti-depressants...yes, my cat on anti-depressants [ ( Read more... )

poor bigguns. Is it the three other cats or the 15-month old who is stressing her out? Really, it's hard to say. God, she's cute.
I love you.
Also, I miss you.
And I got a job interview on Tuesday.

Feliway worked really well for about 50% of the customers that bought it, and then about 50% ended up returning it.

couple things to note:

it only covers 1-2 moderately sized rooms

you have to check it and keep up with the refills, you won't be able to smell it so you've got to look at the levels on the plugin.

try and reduce the most likely causes of the stress, these are best used for stressful episodes and not forever

pair it up with rescue remedy, the spray works best for cats because if you spray it on an area they can groom you don't have to worry about stressing them out by trying to force it into her mouth.

just out of curiousity what are you feeding?

good luck, hope it's nothing serious!

for a long time now she has been on purina one weight managment food, since her last visit i mixed her regular food with purina one urinary health formula.

thanks for the info on the feliway.

i think her stress is because she is not getting along with one of my roomates cats. it wasn't initally a big problem but lately they have been getting into some major fights... perhaps i should send them to couples therapy or something. ;)

lol... therapy for cats in multi-cat households would be a million dollar business. Usually after a couple month and some nasty fights things will settle down. Hope the Feliway helps them both.

Are you feeding any wet food or is she on an all dry diet?

will explain a bit about how improper hydration can and OFTEN leads to UTI's.

Good luck and if you have any questions or want some more resources I'm full of annoying pet-related information!

Oh stephen, poor beautiful baby. I've not had any severe stress related kitty cases, except for when Effie and I first moved down here all her hair on her belly fell out. But that was all.

Take care of the pretty girl. Thinking of you.

Not to cause alarm, but plugs is cause about 4.1 million house fires a year or at least that's what I read like three years ago. So be careful.
