Now, if I come home to a empty apartment and they then come home, I find I don't generally greet them.

I say "hello" or at least wave unless they're totally engrossed in something and I feel like I'll be bothering them by saying "hi".

I should say, it's rude if they're out in the open and not shut away in their room or something. If I was home and roommie came home and said nothing to me, I'd wonder what I'd done to piss her off.
