More Yosemite

One section of Yosemite has redwoods. Here's one that fell over a few hundred years back. Due to the high amount of tannin in the wood, they don't really rot (or at least they rot very, very, very slowly). The tannin is also what gives them their color and keeps them from burning when there are forest fires ( Read more... )

that's amazing...more amazing is how did they convince the horses to stand at attention on that giant tree.
