This time around I will skip the explanation why I decided to recommend a story. Episode Tags and Missing scenes tend to be short; every explanation would just spoil the story. Let’s just say that every story in this list is either so realistic that I consider them canon or so creative that it deserves some recognition.
All In
Know When to Fold them, or Not by kriadydragon
http://kriadydragon.livejournal.com/234471.html#cutid1 So what exactly happened in the hotel room?
Bottlenecked
Gray Area by tigerlily0
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5785845/1/Gray_Area An additional scene before Neal confessed to Peter that he met Keller.
Front Man
Smile Victim Number One Million and Two by afiawri
http://afiawri.livejournal.com/2871.html A missing scene about the FBI getting the necessary information from the travel agency
Out of the Box
Black Hole by tigerlily0
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5809397/1/Black_Hole A great explanation of how Fowler managed to manipulate Neal’s tracking data.
Aftermath by kriadydragon
http://kriadydragon.livejournal.com/248231.html#cutid1 A really heartbreaking story about the Aftermath of “Out of the Box”
Three month by bella-harvest
http://bella-harvest.livejournal.com/5182.html#cutid1 http://bella-harvest.livejournal.com/5419.html http://bella-harvest.livejournal.com/5830.html#cutid1 This is obviously long enough that it deserves some additional words. Bella-harvest is a good writer who regularly provides the fandom with very long and well-plotted stories. Sadly not very well known (as far as I can tall), because she isn’t part of one of the bigger White Collar groups and doesn’t post on ff.net anymore. The only reason I refrained from putting more of her stories on the list is that there are often suggestions in them which are not strictly gen. Plus, I’m an absolute sticker for details, and she tends to ignore them. This story, for example, is wonderfully written, with great character interactions, but every time I read the title I think “Shouldn’t it be “Two month”?”. So, if you are less obsessed than I, you might love her other works, too. “Three month” is definitely worth the read, because the story shows all her strengths as a writer.
Need to Know
Nightmare by paperlion
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6223114/1/Nightmare Relates to a couple of episodes, but fits the best there. Peter reevaluates Neal’s criminal abilities
.
Unfinished Business
Taking A Ride by tigerlily0
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6236454/1/Taking_A_Ride An answer to the question: Whose car did Neal “borrow”?
In the Red
Losing my Religion by Rabidchild67
http://rabidchild67.livejournal.com/12403.html June rocks! And isn’t it strange that she comments about every woman turning up at Neal’s doorstep, save for Sara? I always wanted to know what June thinks about her (although I feared that the writers would stick her into the “Sara is great”-choir). This is more along the lines of what I would imagine…especially after Sara invaded her house with the police.
Point Blank/Beginning of Burke’s Seven
Official Bureau Response by Mojave Dragonfly
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6355128/1/Official_Bureau_Response What happened when Diana took Neal with her to the Bureau? Very emotional, closes some plot holes along the way. The well-deserved winner of the 2011 “Unfinished Business Award”.
Burkes Seven
For the Defense by kriadydragon
http://kriadydragon.livejournal.com/237834.html#cutid1 Neal is still very interested in self-Defense.
