Chapter Three

Caitlin watched Sam intently for a few minutes until she was sure he wasn't faking sleep.  Then she turned toward the other bed.

“Impressive.”

She started.  She’d thought Dean was asleep, but he was lying on his back, staring at her, lips curled in a ( Read more... )

The dread, the emotional suffering, the clearness portrayed in the helplessness to do something, anything... WONDERFUL! You express things so well! Keep up the good work!

Poor, suffering Dean! (Of course you know that I also mean: Yay, suffering Dean! *g*)

Good job showing Dean and Caitlin connecting a little and Sam being understandably cranky where Dean’s deteriorating health is concerned. Not that Caitlin deserved his outburst, of course, but it’s very Sam to be high strung in a moment like this. He just can’t stand seeing Dean suffer and not being able to make it all better. *hugs Sam*

Favorite lines:

“Keep an eye on Sam,” he said after a moment, then rolled onto his side and shut his eyes.

Always and forever the big brother. *pets him*

“If I don’t make it… I need you to look out for Sam. Don’t let him… Call Bobby Singer. He’ll know what to do. The number’s in my cell.”

Oh, Dean. Yup, he’d totally be looking out for Sam like this.

Glad you think Sam and Dean are in character here, and that you liked Dean and Caitlin connecting a bit.

Yes, I know exacty what you mean when you say 'poor Dean'!

Ouch! I'm enjoying the addition of Caitlin to this whole scenario. It adds a different dynamic and POV. :)

I'm really glad you like Caitlin. Part of the reason I wrote this was to try an outsider POV because I've never done this before, and also because I wanted to attempt an OFC that didn't turn out to be a total Mary Sue. You'll have to judge my success or lack of it on that at the end of the story!

I'm eating this up.

Do you know... it's funny but I've been digging h/c for a long time, and I remember trying to concoct a ST:TNG h/c scenario with my best friend back in grade frigging five, and we were trying to pull off, well basically exactly this, only with a much less well thought out premise, and, we didn't actually write it, just kicked around ideas until we ran into some insurmountable creative differences. And so it's cool to see this executed here, in my current fandom, with lovely characterizations and fabulous sensory details I might add.

I was interested to hear about your attempts to come concoct a similar story. Sometimes ideas just don't come together, do they - I've had lots of things that haven't worked, and this one took a lot of thinking out to make it halfway credible. Anyway, I'm glad you think its working and thanks for the comment on the characterisations and the 'fabulous sensory details' - that made me feel really good! Hope you enjoy the final parts, which should be up later today, barring technical hitches.
