if y'ever need help turning shit off in XP, I know all about it.

1) Right-click on My Computer, go to "Manage"
2) Click the + next to Services and Applications, click on Services underneath that.
3) Scroll through the list of services until you find "Messenger".
4) Right-click on Messenger and go to "Properties".
5) Hit the Stop button and set Startup Type to "Disabled".

That'll kill the bastard.

There's a bunch of other stuff in there that you don't need to be running, but please don't go around disabling random things.

Thanks, yeah, I found it yesterday only to discover it was already disabled... my guess is that Ad-aware did it for me.
