“An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.”

John Willliams' music for the Star Wars trilogy contains some of the most popular and recognizable film music in history. Much of this is because of the monumental social impact that the film series had, becoming the reigning mythology for an entire generation (and swelling both George Lucas' bank account and ego to Death Star-like proportions). And of course now I have to listen to this today - its a rule. I just bumped it to the top of my queue. Also - LOVE LOVE LOVE the new cover art!

I remember my first time with this mix. I was actually shocked at how fresh and new it sounded despite the pervasiveness you mention above :D

michelle1963 and I will be spending the day together so gets to hear it by proxy :) Last week I introduced her to Spring in Central Park. She was delighted.

May the Force sir, be with you.

michelle1963 commented on Spring in Central Park a bit of time ago. I'm glad to hear that one getting some spin, it's a personal favorite!

The new version of the disc has all of the strengths of the previous versions, but is a bit better balanced throughout. The final version is almost identical except that “John Williams” is in Haettenschweiler instead of Impact and “Music from the Original Trilogy” is in Serif Gothic, which is the font used for the credit blurb on the poster art for the original releases of Star WarsI will have to upload the final version and replace this one. The differences are minor, and I might not have ( ... )

I have updated the entry so that it now reflects the final cover design. All of the print is larger, the image is properly centered and ”Music from the Original Trilogy” is in Serif Gothic, the same font used for the Star Wars one-sheets (this font is also used for the track listing and credits on the inside cover). The actual disc art is slightly recomposed for those dimensions, but this is the design.

If I revisit the Prequel Trilogy mix, the cover will be revised along this design.
