I have the exact same birthday as you. How do you make creativity substandard? I like the Manta Ray story.

I use the phrase "substandard creativity" because for a couple of years I refused to create anything unless I knew it was very good. I wrote no stories, drew no pictures - not even doodles, wrote no songs, wrote no poetry, and so on. But although I have no creative talent in any area, I am a creative person. It killed me to keep everything inside.

At last it occured to me that I don't have to be the best at everything. And since that day, I've been creating and creating: bad poetry, stupid dances, ridiculously uninspired short stories, silly songs, childish drawings.

In other words, creativity for fun, not for artistic expression.
