Winter - Pt II

Apr 06, 2007 09:36

It is FREAKIN' COLD around here!  The poor tulips and other flowers that had been coming along so promisingly (back when it was 80...last week!) are now limp and dead.  The windchills are in the low single digits every morning.  Snow is again in the forecast.  I don't care if this IS Minnesota, it's APRIL for crying out loud!

We haven't had weather like that this winter. I think it froze for about two nights in total this winter. That's it.

Now we're having beautiful spring weather, 20C, everyone's headed for the coast for Easter. I think this promises to be another very hot summer. We've been breaking the temperature records every month.

The climate really is changing. *offers you a fleece*

The odd thing is that we had a really mild winter through about mid-January. Highs primarily in the 30s and 40s F (*converts* about -1 to 6C). Then all of a sudden winter struck with a vengence, and we had a week or more when our highs didn't get above 0F (-18C) and we set records for the most snow ever received in February.

I think March was a bit colder than average, but then last week things were looking spectacular! When suddenly...WHOMP. It's winter again. Grrrr.

Thanks for the fleece! *bundles up*

I still have snow on my deck.

I have a feeling that on Sunday all the little girls at church will be wearing cardigan sweaters and warm tights with their light weight frilly Easter dresses. (I know mine will.)

I don't consider spring to start here until at least mid-May. My son's birthday is May 8th which is usually near Mother's Day, and thus this fishing opener, and it is never very warm then either. Usually raining.
