Instead of actually reviewing 2005, I thought I'd just post some excerpts from LJ from the past year:
Jan 6: I went to the dentist. It hurt.
Jan 13: I've felt strange all week. that feeling when you stay under water for too long and you feel kind of lightheaded and nauteous.
Feb 8: THREE OF YOUR FAVORITE BANDS OR ARTISTS AT THE MOMENT:
1. Critical Dance Part Deux
2. Rise Against
3. I've been listening to old Weezer lately
Feb 26: I am drinking a Fanta right now.
Mar 18: AHH! MOTHERLAND!
Leaving for Sweden today. Get to fly overseas with a stopover in Amsterdam by myself which will be an adventure. AND I get to use my sexy new passport.
Apr 25: Shitty week, then Buzzfest
Apr 30: Girls Track and Field won SPC
May 6: Pros of being 17: can actually buy legal R rated movie tickets now (not that I didn't before), can legally have sex (not that I did before), no more curfew
Cons of being 17: another year closer to death, closer to getting letters from the AARP in the mail
May 10: Dear Inner Thighs,
Hello. I've noticed you creeping back into my life, and I would just like to say that I'm glad, because I've missed you. I'm sorry if it seemed like I was trying to push you away during track season. I wasn't trying to ignore you, I promise. So, with that having been said, welcome back. I'm very glad to have you.
Sincerely,
Sandra
May 20: Prom was so much more fun than I expected it to be.
Jun 7: So we went and talked in the car, and by talked I mean I cried, which is awful because I look like a mess when I cry [...] I should have been cynical enough
Jun 15: [at work] I had the joy of physcially removing a 4-year-old from a stool after he had ingested massive amounts of sugar and decided his new hobby was being a bitch.
Jun 30: International Diplomacy Bootcamp [excerpts]
-Hearts in the airport, 2 hour bus ride up to DC.
-Model UN.
-Air and Space Museum, Holocaust Museum, International Spy Museum, the Capitol, the White House.
-Monuments at Night
-Dinner at the Australian Embassy.
-M Street in DC
-Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero
-Mamma Mia! on Broadway
-Listening to Rudy Giuliani in the (worldfamous) Apollo Theatre and shaking his hand
-Visiting the UN
-Dancing the night awaaay
Jul 5: [in Sweden] I saw a random hedgehog down by the harbor, and decided that hedgehogs are the most emo animals ever. When threatened, they curl up into a defensive ball with their spikes out to the world, but then they get hit by cars anyway.
Aug 23: I spent the weekend in Galveston and I have to say it was most enjoyable. Sun and sand, gorgeous late night stars and definite drug deals next door.
Sep 18: my iPod tragically died [...] when I got there, the lovely people at Best Buy decided to give me a brand-new iPod instead. As in, color/photo for no extra charge (mine was most definetly not color/photo)
Sep 22: My Rita Update: it shall be an adventure.
Oct 11: A squirrel commited suicide in our transformer box yesterday [...] it leapt onto our tranformer box, ending his short and meaningless life. And ending our power supply.
Oct 30: We won the Kinkaid game. Keepin' the every-3-years tradition alive, I guess. Not without honor!
I don't have a car for the next couple of weeks, but I'm surprisingly not overwhelmingly depressed about it. What I'm most dissapointed about is not being able to just go out on random errands anymore, or stop somewhere on the way home from school. Those little seemingly insignificant uses for a car that I can no longer take advantage of.
Nov 9: I gave blood today. [...] I kept visualizing the blood pumping out of me, so every time I clenched my hand it would spurt out. That thought kept me busy for the full 10 minutes or so it took to fill the pint-bag.
Dec 14: I got into Vassar.
Dec 26: Christmas came and went.
