[Ryoda one-shot] Coming Out

A/N: To all my readers of A Place In The Sun, it most likely wont be an update on that one for at least another week and I am so, so, so, so sorry for that. I have so much with school and even though I know what will happen in that story I can't concentrate enough to actually put it down in words. I really hope you aren't too disappointed with me... And I hope this story can somehow make up for the lack of update APITS. I started this one a few weeks ago and managed to finish it just last night. Hope you will enjoy it ^^
Jin and Yamapi were sitting by one of the tables in the VIP lounge of their favourite night club. It was Friday night, and that always equalled a night out drinking and dancing. Everybody in their usual circle was there, well everybody except for Ryo. He hadn’t been out with them for months now and if he ever agreed to come with them he would always cancel on them in the last minute. Kame was also there this night for once and that made Jin happy since it was so unusual.
“Ne, what do you reckon Jin?” Yamapi asked gulping down some of his beer “Ryo must have a new girlfriend right? That must be it right? I can’t even remember the last time he even hung out with anyone of us”
“Yeah, he’s defiantly ditching us for a girl” Jin mused. “I just wish he would just tell us about her. I mean of course we would like to meet her, especially since she seem to be very precious to him”
“Have you two ever thought that there might be a very good reason behind him not wanting to tell you two yet?” Kame cut in as he sat down next to Jin and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s waist and placed his head on his shoulder. “Maybe he wants to wait and see how it goes before he lets everybody know. Maybe he wants to make sure that it really is a serious relationship. Or maybe it’s not a girlfriend but a boyfriend and he just don’t know how to come out of the closet”
“Ryo being gay?” Yamapi asked in disbelief as if that was the most ridiculous thing he heard in years which shouldn’t be the case since he was best friends with Jin.
“He could be you know” Kame said snuggling Jin’s neck. “I mean both Jin and I turned out that way and we’ve both been in relationships with girls before we ended up together”
“But still, I can’t see that at all” Yamapi was still sceptical at that thought. “Can you see that Jin?”
“I dunno, I guess it could be possible.” Jin said looking thoughtful “and if he is than I would just die to know who would ever be able to swing him around. What do you say Yamapi? Should we do some investigation?”
“No, Jin please leave the poor guy alone” Kame tried to talk Jin out of the stupid idea “Let Ryo come to you when he’s ready”
“I’m definitely in for some investigating” Yamapi ignored Kame’s comment. “He’s been too secretive for too long”
“I shouldn’t have opened my big mouth” Kame mumbled as Jin and Yamapi ignored him and started to make plans for the upcoming week.
Monday came around and Jin and Yamapi started up with their investigation. Yamapi would be the one to do the most of the dirty work since; well he was sharing dressing room and rehearsal room with the victim. He walked into the dressing room whistling to the tunes of Dainte Senorita and when he saw the sleeping Ryo on the couch he knew this would be his big chance. No one else had arrived yet, so this clearly was his lucky day. He sneaked up to the chair where Ryo had dumped his bag while throwing weary looks at Ryo to make sure he wouldn’t wake up. He opened the bag and carefully looked into it. The first thing he saw was a note book, a worn out one and he started to look through it. He frowned when he noticed that it was only filled up with lyrics that didn’t tell him anything at all about the mystery person that kept Ryo away from his friends. He put the book back into the bag and pulled out Ryo’s wallet. He opened it and soon found a used ticket for a Boxing game. Since when had Ryo been into boxing? Maybe he had gone to the game with his mystery friend? Yes that must be it. He quickly put the ticket back into the wallet when he heard how Ryo started to fidget on the couch and when he glanced over he saw that Ryo seemed to be waking up. He put the wallet back in the bag and moved away to sit down a few chair away.
“Good morning sleepy head” Yamapi said trying to hide the slight guilt he was now feeling.
“Morning” Ryo said stretching his arms over his head as he sat up. “What did you do now?” he then added when he saw Yamapi fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
“What? I didn’t do anything” Yamapi stressed his words “Anyway how was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?”
“It was good” Ryo answered eyeing Yamapi suspiciously “I didn’t do anything special though just hung out with...” he stopped abruptly as if considering what to say next.
“Hung out with?” Yamapi asked now getting seriously interested. Maybe Ryo would actually tell him right out.
“I hung out with Tatsuya” Ryo answered and got up from the couch. “I’m going to the bathroom”
“Tatsuya?” Yamapi asked. “Who is Tatsuya?”
“He’s a close friend of mine” Ryo smiled over his shoulder before he left Yamapi alone.
“Tatsuya?” Yamapi said to himself. “Who do I know with that name? Ah, Ueda. But there is no way that Ueda and Ryo would hang out together, right?”
“Are you talking with yourself again?” Shige’s voice came from behind his back and startled Yamapi slightly. But then he turned around and gave his band mate a friendly smile.
“He’s seeing someone called Tatsuya” Yamapi blurted out over lunch. He was out having lunch in a small ramen shop with Jin; Kame had tagged along as well but was currently in the bathroom.
“Tatsuya?” Jin stopped eating and stared at Yamapi. “As in Ueda Tatsuya? As in Ueda Tatsuya as in the U in KAT-TUN?”
“I don’t know. He just told me had hung out this weekend with his close friend Tatsuya” Yamapi said dropping his chopsticks and rested his chin in his hand. “He seemed to be hesitating a little before he said the name though”
“Hmm... so if it now is Tat-chan he’s seeing” Jin contemplated “Then how in the world did that happen?”
“We’ll just have to investigate some more” Yamapi said picking his chopsticks again. “Maybe you should keep an eye on Ueda”
“Oh, please don’t tell me that you’re going to drag Tat-chan into this too” Kame said sitting back down next to Jin. “I’m sure they’ll tell you guys when they are ready”
“When they are ready?” Yamapi inquired. It seemed like Kame knew something he didn’t tell them.
“Yeah...” Kame said a bit hesitant. “I... I’m gonna go and pay for the food” Kame said quickly getting back up from his seat.
“Was he implying that they’re really are dating?” Jin asked stunned turning to his friend.
“I think he did...” Yamapi said just as stunned as they both watched Kame gracefully make his way to the counter “But how? How did he figure it out? I mean he’s not in on the investigation right? He even was against the whole investigation, wasn’t he?”
“I have no idea” Jin said while checking out his boyfriend’s behind. “But maybe he’s picked up on things we haven’t? He’s good at observing and noticing the tiniest of things, you know”
“That’s true” Yamapi said finishing of his food before standing up. “Let’s go.”
When Yamapi came back to the dressing room he found Ryo alone again, but this time he was talking on the phone. He didn’t seem to notice Yamapi’s arrival since he was standing with his back against the door so it gave Yamapi a good chance to eavesdrop.
“No of course I understand... You’ve made a promise with him... You’ll just have to make it up to me later ” Yamapi could almost hear the smirk playing on Ryo’s lips. “Oh, and our anniversary is coming up soon right? ... Yeah, what should we do? The same as last time or do you want to do something more extravagant? ... Ah, yeah I guess we can. I’ll see you later... And I you. Bye” Ryo closed his phone and turned around with a smile on his face but it faltered slightly as he noticed Yamapi “For how long have you been in here?”
“Just a few minutes” Yamapi grinned as he made himself comfortable on the couch. “So, was that your girlfriend you’re talking to?”
“I don’t have a girlfriend” Ryo huffed putting his phone back into his jeans pocket.
“So, boyfriend then?” Yamapi quizzed but Ryo didn’t answer he just turned away slightly but Yamapi hadn’t missed the slight blush on his friends cheeks. “You know I won’t judge you for being gay Ryo. I mean I’m best friends with Jin and Kame”
“I’m not gay!” Ryo turned around and stared at Yamapi.
“Okay, you’re not gay but you have a boyfriend right?” Yamapi said. “And it’s this Tatsuya guy that you told me about this morning am I right?”
“Y...” Ryo sighed probably realizing that Yamapi wouldn’t drop this topic anytime soon. “Yes, it’s Tatsuya”
“I’m so happy for you” Yamapi beamed and jumped up giving Ryo a big bear hug. “You’ve been so happy these last few months so he must be good for you!”
“Tha-thanks” Ryo said a bit taken aback from his friend’s sudden affectionate action.
“So tell me” Yamapi pulled back. “Who is this guy? Where did you meet him?”
“Eh... uh... It’s Ueda Tatsuya” Ryo said blushing and looking down at his feet. “And I rather not tell you how we hooked up because it’s a too precious memory that I wanna keep to myself”
“Aww, you’re so sweet sometimes.” Yamapi pinched Ryo’s cheek. “Deep down in you there’s this romantic guy, huh?”
“Shut up” Ryo said now slightly annoyed as he swatted his friend’s hand away from his face.
“So why did you guys hide it away from us?” Yamapi asked as he pulled out his cell phone from his jeans pocket to send Jin a message.
“We didn’t really mean to” Ryo said sitting down on one of the chairs in the room. “It just ended up that way and anyway no one asked me about it”
“I asked you thousands of times if you had a girlfriend!” Yamapi interjected looking up from his phone.
“Yes, but as I think you know Tatsuya is not a girl” Ryo smirked, and feeling kind of relieved that their relationship was out in the open.
“That’s...“ Yamapi started as he pressed the send button on his phone. “That’s true. You’re one sneaky little... Oh well. I guess it’s my bad for not thinking of any other possibilities. But you’ve always seemed so straight to me”
“Well I thought I was too but I guess we both were wrong” Ryo smiled.
The peaceful atmosphere in the room was a few minutes later disturbed by Jin barging into the room with the rest of KAT-TUN in a tow.
“Hi guys” Yamapi grinned at the newcomers. Ueda seemed to look kind of out of place and a bit nervous.
“Ryo and Tat-chan really are together?” Nakamaru asked glancing at his band mate and then at Ryo.
“Yeah, we are” Ueda answered hesitatingly and walked up to Ryo. Everyone was watching him. “Sorry everyone for not telling you”
“For how long?” Koki asked eyeing the couple who was now sitting next to each other on the couch.
“About 6 months” Ueda smiled and leaned his head slightly on Ryo’s shoulder. Everyone except for Kame and Yamapi was looking at the couple with big wide eyes.
“You don’t seem surprised Kamenashi?” Ryo remarked.
“I’m not” Kame smiled back at them. “I figured it all out a while ago. Put two and two together and yeah...”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Jin asked in a high pitched voice.
“Cause it wasn’t my right to tell” Kame simply answered.
“This calls for a celebration, right?” Junno perked in. “I mean this is big and worth celebrating right?”
“Definitely!” Jin agreed “We should all go out tonight. No one’s having any other plans, right?”
“Nothing that I can’t postpone” Yamapi smiled and T-TN agreed with him “We have plans” Ryo tried to protest but his words didn’t reach the others who we’re busy agreeing with Yamapi, and either consciously or unconsciously were ignoring him.
“So where are we going?” Nakamaru asked “The same place we always go to when we celebrate something?”
“Yeah, of course” Koki said. “And you Yamapi should invite the rest of News too”
“Ah!” realization hit Yamapi in the face. “They don’t know about the new couple yet!”
“Uh, what is KAT-TUN doing here?” Tegoshi’s voice suddenly came from door behind them and they all turned around to see the rest of News looking surprised at their dressing room being so crowded.
“You came just in time” Junno beamed at them. “We’re going out tonight and you guys should definitely come too!”
“Are we celebrating something?” Shige asked as he, Koyama, Tegoshi and Masuda made their way through the crowed and over to the couch.
“We’re celebrating the born of -“ Jin started turning around to face the couple only to notice that the place on the couch where Ueda and Ryo had been sitting just a moment ago was now empty “Where did they go?” he exclaimed and pointed at the empty space. “We’ve lost them!”
“They’ve must have sneaked out on us” Yamapi sounded quite scandalized at the thought.
“Who are you talking about?” Koyama asked curious looking up from his bag.
“Ryo-kun and Tat-chan” Kame answered. “And Yamapi, can you blame them? We all started to make plans and talk over their heads totally ignoring them even though it’s them we’re celebrating?”
“But it’s still not nice of them to sneak away like that!” Yamapi huffed.
“Uh, why would we be celebrating Nishikido-kun and Ueda-kun?” Masuda butted in as he picked out an apple and started to eat it.
“Ah, they’re dating” Nakamaru explained and flashed his friend a smile. “And apparently have done so for almost 6 months now”
“What?!” Tegoshi, Koyama and Masuda (who almost choked on a piece of apple) shrieked together. Shige just raised his eyebrows in surprise looking up from his book that he had engulfed himself into but soon returned to his reading.
“So, do you think they will find us?” Ueda asked closing the door to Tackey and Tsubasa’s dressing room. None of their senpais where currently at the agency so they’d figured it’d be a pretty good hiding place.
“Hopefully not” Ryo said walking up to the couch and plopped himself down. He patted on the seat next to him to indicate that Ueda should sit down next to him. Ueda smiled and did as Ryo wished.
“Maybe we should’ve told them one by one and not them all at once” Ueda thought out loud as he leaned his head against Ryo’s shoulder.
“Maybe” Ryo said placing his arm around Ueda’s shoulder “But what’s done is done. And I’m kind of happy that it’s all out now even though we didn’t intend on keeping it a secret, since we can be more open at least around our groups”
“Me too” Ueda said giving Ryo a kiss on the cheek. “Me too”

“Yeah, of course” Koki said. “And you Yamapi should invite the rest of News too”
“Ah!” realization hit Yamapi in the face. “They don’t know about the new couple yet!”
“Uh, what is KAT-TUN doing here?” Tegoshi’s voice suddenly came from door behind them and they all turned around to see the rest of News looking surprised at their dressing room being so crowded.
“You came just in time” Junno beamed at them. “We’re going out tonight and you guys should definitely come too!”
“Are we celebrating something?” Shige asked as he, Koyama, Tegoshi and Masuda made their way through the crowed and over to the couch.
“We’re celebrating the born of -“ Jin started turning around to face the couple only to notice that the place on the couch where Ueda and Ryo had been sitting just a moment ago was now empty “Where did they go?” he exclaimed and pointed at the empty space. “We’ve lost them!”
“They’ve must have sneaked out on us” Yamapi sounded quite scandalized at the thought.
“Who are you talking about?” Koyama asked curious looking up from his bag.
“Ryo-kun and Tat-chan” Kame answered. “And Yamapi, can you blame them? We all started to make plans and talk over their heads totally ignoring them even though it’s them we’re celebrating?”
“But it’s still not nice of them to sneak away like that!” Yamapi huffed.
“Uh, why would we be celebrating Nishikido-kun and Ueda-kun?” Masuda butted in as he picked out an apple and started to eat it.
“Ah, they’re dating” Nakamaru explained and flashed his friend a smile. “And apparently have done so for almost 6 months now”
“What?!” Tegoshi, Koyama and Masuda (who almost choked on a piece of apple) shrieked together. Shige just raised his eyebrows in surprise looking up from his book that he had engulfed himself into but soon returned to his reading.
“So, do you think they will find us?” Ueda asked closing the door to Tackey and Tsubasa’s dressing room. None of their senpais where currently at the agency so they’d figured it’d be a pretty good hiding place.
“Hopefully not” Ryo said walking up to the couch and plopped himself down. He patted on the seat next to him to indicate that Ueda should sit down next to him. Ueda smiled and did as Ryo wished.
“Maybe we should’ve told them one by one and not them all at once” Ueda thought out loud as he leaned his head against Ryo’s shoulder.
“Maybe” Ryo said placing his arm around Ueda’s shoulder “But what’s done is done. And I’m kind of happy that it’s all out now even though we didn’t intend on keeping it a secret, since we can be more open at least around our groups”
“Me too” Ueda said giving Ryo a kiss on the cheek. “Me too”
