The great tape debate

When did casette tapes become "old technology"? Sure, they're not the most up to date thing to use these days, but I remember using them quite frequently during my childhood, so they can't be completely obsolete (unless I'm really old? Don't answer that). I needed to find a blank tape to record Carm Jams tonight, but from Radio Shack to Microcenter

Maybe we are getting old. And you should have recorded it on 8 tracks. I mean, why not? Haha.
