Here are some things I think you should know if you have to go to the hospital. Real talk.

1. If you're fat, the staff will HATE having you on their unit. We will refer to you as a HEAVY. As in, "How many heavies do we have on the unit today?" or, "Transport that patient yourself. I don't do heavies." Deal with it. Or lose weight.

2. The more you ask ( Read more... )

Yeah, I've learned all this from experience. In October I was put on a childrens floor, they always seems to care a little more.

I found out pretty quickly that no one REALLY cares about you in Hospitals, I think my situation was a little different though. Almost every time I've had to go in I've had some kind of 1 in 10,000 chance illness so I got more attention than a normal patient would have. I haven't met a doctor that didn't want to probe some part of me... haha.

I take the fact that the staff doesn't really care as reason for me to ask for as much as shit as I want though. I'm usually a pretty happy camper but if I get pissy I usually am a huge dick to them as well.

I have way too much experience.

Yeah you do have a pretty unfortunate medical history for your age. It's made you tough, though! If you were a patient on my floor I'd be super nice to you!

I work at West Penn on a Cardio-Thoracic unit, so if you have another lung mishap you'd be on my floor. This job is the reason why I am never at Unarmed shows and it's seriously bumming me out. I am officially requesting your presence at my 21st, though.
