Title: After the Sky
Rating: PG
Characters: Davey Collins/Pirelli, with a mention of Benjamin Barker
Summary: Davey loves his job, but he knows not to take things too far.
Warnings: None

The trick of acting-or advertising, or lying-is to believe what you tell your audience. Not all of it, of course. Davey knows he never shaved the Pope and that his elixir does nothing to cure baldness. When he talks about the art of barbering, though, he sees the light reflected in Benjamin Barker’s razor and he means every word. It fills him with longing to do something beautiful; it makes him want more than applause and a trunk of cheap finery. He tries to ignore it. A little conviction is useful, but too much makes you a fool.
