Have you tried http://www.ffonline.com then?

In any case, I played/beat that game SO long ago that I forget much about it... I didn't like it too much either save for Vincent, who is my Hero...

ummm just before mt corel is when tifa leaves you to tend to cloud in Mideel and Shinra's trying to get the huge materia so you have to go to Corel and Fort Condor to get it. The problem is that if you crash the train, then you don't get it :(

Most scandalous thing ever? Hmm...
For the levers, it helps to have someone there with you. As far as I remember, you're supposed to press the x key and something else in alternation really quickly. When your hands get tired, switch off with someone else.
And let's see, great chocobos are in the north mountain area, where Sephiroth hangs out. They're mostly female, I think.

actually those are wonderful chocobos. Great ones are down near Mideel as well as weak ones so whenever you manage to get into a fight with a chocobo, there's only a 1/4 chance that it's the kind you need :/
Yeah you're supposed to hit down/x alternately.....but it didn't work. I pressed those 2 buttons for about a minute and 10 seconds and *nothing* happened
