if you don't want to go to keene, then don't go. going to the wrong college will make you miserable. if you're willing to pay for your college if you go to colby or emerson, then your parents can't MAKE you go to keene. you're 18. you can choose your own destiny. like anakin skywalker, for example. he chose the dark side (aka keene), but had he chosen the light side (aka colby or emerson) he wouldn't have ended up living as a scary robot.

follow your heart, dear, that's the only way to go.

To be blunt, your parents are being disgustingly stupid. I don't know what would prompt parents to pressure their kids to go to a school that they don't want to go to because of money. Money decieves us, but in the long run it never factors into our memories. You go where you like best, and fuck your parents, seriously. If they want you to pay for it, then pay for it (you'll pay it off one way or another) and if they insist they pay for it, then let them... it's one of the most important decisions of your life and really will determine your future. I don't know what else to say except that if I were you, I would hands down go to Colby-Sawyer. And you know what, if it doesn't turn out to be all you dreamed and you think it's not worth the money, then you can transfer. But I think you might really regret it if you don't find out.

Did you end up not getting into Emerson or something?

I would have to agree with Ariane here, despite choosing to not go to school myself. The choice is yours, and your parents can't really make you do anything. They can get in the way, and interfere with your plans, or make it harder for you, but in the end you are the one who makes the choice.

If you want to go to Colby Sawyer, go there.

I'd have to agree with everyone who has commented so far - if you don't want to go to Keene, don't go to Keene. If you have to take out a loan, even stay home a year and work to save up money, do it, if it means you get to go to the college you want to go to. This is a very big step in your life; don't settle for anything that's going to make you miserable.
