I'm glad you had a spectacular weekend. What kind of wood do you want to use for the soles? A soft wood like bass or pine might be best as they're easy to carve. I guess if it were me I'd try as basic a pair as possible at first to get the idea of how hard it may be. Then experiment. ;)At the very least your going to want to seal the wood somehow. that way moisture can't get in and ruin the soles. Just some thoughts. *hugs*

I am getting my dad to choose the wood (he is good at that stuff ^_~) but I am going to seal the wood ( I had to seal my double decker shoes when they came.) but I dont expect the first pair to be very... well right lol. It will take more than one try. I will have to ask dad about pine and bass tho! thanks for the feed!

I hope you are doing well!(how is the sewing class?)
HAPPY V-DAY!
*smooch!*

I have seen that site and I thought his way was very interesting. I have a book that is about world footwear and it shows how they make them out of a solid block and hollow it for The sound and to lighten it. I acctulally like that way better(and less work for my brain X_X)
I will be posting my progress and hell might as well make a tutorial too!
thanks!
and happy valentines day!

I had the dream of making a pair once, then I got weak and bought a pair on ebay. Not bad to walk in!

You might find this place useful.. http://www.fandfwoodcarving.com/basswood-blocks.htm finding wood to make em out of was tough!

Sure it's basswood, but should still do the trick!

I am so excited about this project! Every time I have tried to snag a pair off of ebay they end up too large or too expensive. So this is my best bet!
OH thanks for that site! If the people here dont have the right wood I will definately be ordering from them!
thanks
Happy Valentines day!

XD I'm so glad we added each other!

I've been looking for Okobo for about three months now. I bet you've seen that unfinished okobo tutorial, right? It will be great to see your progress. If you start commisions for them with the detachable normal and ballerina straps I'd order from you without a doubt. ^_^ <3
I'd leave the first pair natural with a water seal and then move onto laquered.

heehee! I have LOVEd okobo for a LONG time now (ever since I saw a pair a dancer I knew had). I did see that tutorial and decided, Well hell I have the tools right in front of me! all of my mad prop making skillz will become something beautiful and not another damned yuna staff! I have a feeling this will become a part of my store. You might be my first shoe customer! (WEE!)

*excited* Oh I am sooooo pumped for this! I will become a cobbler! huzah! Yeah I kind of want the first pair to be natural THEN the rest will be snazzi!
(OH BTW!!! I want to see that btssb dress you mentioned ^_~)
turah love!
happy valentines day!

I wanted the new skirt, I just didn't want to add to my ever growing tab. I've always wanted a pair of okobo geta to wear with one of my kimonos but I'm taking a long break from any kind of shoes that I can re break my ankle in once I can walk.

Well I do have good news, since I can't work and give you money that way I was going to try to sell some things but that didn't work. The main reason I don't have money is because my school has owed me 4 grand since about the beginning of Jan but long story short they found the missing money yesterday. They just need to give me the money. I'm calling them today because it usually takes two weeks from when they get the checks to send out the refund but they got the check jan 13 so they need to give me my money now. Hopefully if all goes well I can pay you in full the end of this week. I really hope they don't make me wait two weeks because it was their fault in the first place.

You are the LAST person that needs okobo right now X_X no death shoes for you! That is fine if you would rather not send the coat. (the trouble would be too great for your poor hurtness...) I might end up buying it from you later (OMG YOU HAVE THE RED DRESS X_X) must resist..... 6_6
but yea what ever is easier for you! your school is about as shitty as mine is about money issues.... gir dont you hate that?

I hope you are feeling much beter!
much love!
