As you may know, one of our students died tragically at the age of sixteen this Tuesday. It’s always shocking when we suddenly lose someone from our surroundings, and lately it seems to be a feeling we know all too well. Today I had this really strange urge to read my bible. Now I haven't opened my bible in months which I know is bad, but I'm being honest. This is one of the 1st verses I turned to:
"..They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd then and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." Rev. 7:16-17

I read this over and over because it hit me really hard. I wasn't sure why it did though. I just kept trying to figure it out. I hadn't heard about the boy at your school until I read your post and I immediately thought of that verse. Maybe that verse is something we all need to hear right now, while going through the loss of so many kids. We just need to know that even though we're feeling pain because they're gone, they are feeling joy and happiness they were never able to feel here with us. And as much as we want them back, they are where they're supposed to be, in a better place ( ... )
