It's possible to go through four years of college and not party. I did that. :)
Dorming is weird, especially if you've never lived away from home before and are in a school with all new people. It's odd at first, until you get to know the people you live with in your room and in the building, but once you feel settled and make some friends it'll get much much much better.
Just stay positive, make your dorm room your comfort place, and try to join at least one activity to meet new people and you'll be fine. All new things take time so don't worry if you don't feel at home and have lots of friends right away. It's okay to seek comfort in your "home friends" and family while getting used to things.
Wow, I ranted...sorry about that. I just remember that I felt the same exact way you did before I went off to college. Now that I'm a college graduate, I get all nostalgic and want to help out. If you need to talk or anything, you can message me or talk to me via AIM (I'm CJSpooks on that, as well).
Ok, you have no idea how relieving that is. I know I don't have to follow the trend and party and all, but I swear, I seem to be the only one, and it's very annoying.
Don't worry, I appreciate the "ranting" :). I like hearing any bits of advice I can, because I'm the "odd one out" when it comes to college around here, and I like knowing that I'm not alone about it. :) Thanks, a lot. *hug*
Good luck! I would simply echo cjspooks who had some pretty good advice. It is possible and prudent to go through college without being a partygirl. Hopefully you will settle in on campus. And it is nice that you will still be able to visit home. Take care and I'll be thinking of you.
Ah, letters. I exchange letters with friends and admittedly it is hard to keep in contact that way since so few people keep up with it, but getting a letter in the mail and reading it is an experience that I would not want to give up. It is worth the effort:)
Thank you :). I appreciate hearing that, especially because I really seem to be the only one around here that isn't interested in the party scene.
I love getting letters! Granted, I stopped loving it when I got pointless letters from college, but when it's a meaningful letter, gosh I love every bit. :)
Well, you just go to www.skype.com and click the "download" button that should be on the front page. You just need a webcam, and your boyfriend needs a webcame, and after the both of you download skype, then you guys should be all set. :)
