So confused

I keep seeing all these LJs with like three avatars and then it says like (click to go behind cut) or something like that and then you click and get to this nice page with like 50 avatars, all nicely organized into their own little boxes. I want to do something like that, but I'm ridiculously confused. I can't find any option to do that. Do you
