Appearance:
Anise has black, thick, medium length hair. She always keeps it up in two pigtails, with yellow ribbons and the ends flipping out somewhat. She has big, reddish brown eyes. Anise is on the short side, and still has a baby face, as well as a flat chest. Usually she dresses in pinks, whites and purples. She is never seen without the strange puppet hanging off her shoulders; Tokunaga. Tokunaga looks like a light brown doll sewn together (the seams are very visible) with a disturbing smile and two different buttons for eyes, as well as cat like ears. (oddly enough, there is also a small embroidered rose on Tokunaga’s butt…)
Personality:
Anise is well…an amusing girl. From first glance what people will notice is how bright and cheerful she is. Upon further observation they will find out she is also quite…“friendly”. And then they will realize this friendliness is mostly around men…rich men…
Anise is a gold digger who wants to marry rich. Around men of status her voice turns syrupy and she starts flirting away with the man of choice. In this mode she could be described as a giddy school girl in love…or one trying too hard.
However a side of Anise people won’t see unless they get to know her is her darker side. A side that will say things like “you better watch your back” under her breath when people cross her. A side that isn’t afraid to be sneaky and/or blackmail people, including close friends. A side that can be teasing and aggravating to those being teased. A side that schemes a little too much (or comes up with the weirdest schemes. “Plan Sexy Anise” anyone?) A side that can get pretty angry.
Anise is also the kind of girl who hides her problems. Despite all of this however she is a dependable and responsible girl, perhaps a little too much so for a girl of her age. She is also very loyal.
Abilities/Weapons:
Anise is a puppeteer as well as a magic user. Unfortunately due to the lack of attention from teachers, her skill in it is very limited. She has only mastered a few spells enough to use effectively (I.e. not backfiring on herself) and can only cast them with a magic staff however. These spells are:
-Limited (a crosshair gylph appears below the target, and a beam of light slams into them)
-Negative Gate (creates a small portal that releases negative energy to injure the enemy)
-Miracle Hammer (creates a large hammer that slams the enemy and disappears right after)
-Bloody Howling (creates a briefly sustained whirlwind of dark energy that damages those trapped in it)
-Mighty Charge (powers up the attacks of Tokunaga and in her words “makes combos more AWESOME”)
-Lucky (a silly spell used mostly by gamblers that well…supposedly increases luck. It was Anise’s first mastered spell and she casts it on herself everyday)
Her true skill is puppeteering, a special kind of magic. She fights using Tokunaga, a specially made doll who she can make grow bigger or smaller. Tokunaga is slightly sentient, and when he is in large form, Anise climbs on top of him and orders him around the battlefield. Tokunaga is pretty good at beating the stuffing out of opponents. Anise has perfected an named a number of techniques with him, such as Dragon Surge, Dual Punishment, Eagle Dive, Shadow Raid, Guardian, etc, etc.
Anise is also a very good cook. See history for why.
How well can your character hack?:
Not very well. Anise has no mechanical skills at all. She may be able to hack into an easy level entry by FLUKE once every blue moon, but it’s by sheer fluke (I.e. randomly bashing in keys).
Weaknesses:
Anise’s family is a large weakness for her. She cares for her parents very much and with money always being an issue she is constantly worried about them. It is very easily to use her parents or her family’s huge debt to get Anise to do things. Anise is also still just a child, a child who does not talk about her problems and thus lets everything build up inside her and cause stress.
If you’re looking for a battle weakness, her back is an easy one. It is completely unprotected and separating her from Tokunaga can be trouble for her.
History:
Anise was born normally into a relatively normal life 13 years ago in Melior to parents Pamela and Oliver Tatlin. She started learning magic at a young age and originally had dreams to attend a prestigious magic school in Melior. However, these dreams had little chance of happening due her parents awful management of money.
Anise’s parents weren’t as street smart as their daughter and were far too trusting and gullible. They constantly fell for scams and gave money to charity even if they themselves were inches away from becoming charity cases. The only way she got her magic lessons at all was her parents worked their butts off at a nearby school, and even then the quality of her lessons weren’t as good as they would have been at a more prestigious school or if she was a real student. Her family in major debt, Anise knew her chances of affording tuition at the best school possible would be slim. At some point, Anise decided she needed a way to get rich quick if she ever wanted to get rid of her family’s debt and get into a good school.
And what better way than to marry rich?
So starting from a few years ago, Anise began training to be the perfect housewife for a rich man. She mastered cooking and has since started working on housework. She’s practiced her charm and flirting. Now what’s left is to start looking for potential husband candidates…
There was also one very important event in her life. About 2 years ago, a strange man came to Melior. He stayed in her area for a while and one day, Anise decided to sit with him because he seemed lonely (AND HE COULD’VE BEEN RICH! He had FABULOUS clothes and a neat chair after all!). A while later, the man made Anise a special doll, her puppet Tokunaga. He left sometime after and Anise hasn’t seen him since. But she adores her Tokunaga and is never seen without it. Along with practicing to be a wife, she practiced controlling Tokunaga everyday, until she was a formidable fighter with him.
