So today I watched the first 3 Indy movies back to back. IMO watching ANY of the Indy movies involves suspending disbelief and enjoying the ride. As it says in the first movie, Indy isn't just an expert in archaeology, he is an expert in the occult. There is a fine line between the occult/supernatural and the belief that there could have been aliens with advanced technology who landed hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago. The fact that the 4th Indy movie starts with Indy being kidnapped and taken to Area 51 in the 1950s and later discovering there are really aliens who lived here and were archaeologists doesn't seem like that much of a stretch for an Indy movie. For those who were turned off by the flying refrigerator, have you gone back and watched Temple of Doom recently? They jump out of plane with a blow-up raft and ride it down the mountain! Is that any MORE believable than surviving a nuclear blast in a lead-lined refrigerator? lol As for Shia's Tarzan scene? Is that really unexpected when you look back at the beginning of Indy when he stole the Cross of Coronado then fought and escaped a bunch of thugs on board a moving train? The sword fight between Shia and Cate was better done and more exciting than the fights with Short Run and the big bad in Temple of Doom. All in all, the new Indy movie is fun and while not as great as Raiders or Last Crusade, it is FAR better than Temple of Doom! :)
