We light a candle on an earth that we made into hell...

There is a heaviness that weighs on my heart for those who have suffered a tremendous amount of devastation & loss from Hurricane Katrina. It doesn't help that it is being sensationalized by the media everywhere I turn. I feel a certain sense of helplessness. I am proud to work for a company that is involved enough in world issues to not only ( Read more... )

This whole new orleans thing has me all kinds of fucked up inside. I've done a good job of not letting it get to me, and using my emotions to talk people in to donating to the red cross(we accept donations that go directly to them). A week earlier and our entire management staff(i mean every store manager in the district) would've been down there, and prolly dead, considering what their hotel looks like now. Anyone who knows me knows what that city means to me. And I'm allready planning on going down there eventually to see whats been done to it. The mayor of new orleans said it best when he said, "When you mention new orleans to anyone, their eyes light up, its that kind of city." Its heartbreaking to me. Whats even more disgusting is that I've heard at least a few right wing christian groups saying that this is gods way of telling the people of the city that they've done wrong. If thats why god does things like this then bushes house should've been the hurricanes first stop. I mean, dubbya is powerful, but i don't think he's managed ( ... )

I personally think that there are MUCH bigger fish to fry than the stupid fucking abortion issue. If they overturn it, which they never EVER will, there will still be ways of going and getting it done. I believe that it is available in Canada. I think we should be much more concerned that our boys that are out there dying for oil and the fact that the economy is shit. I think that people are freaking out over nothing. Rights schmights, when you really think about our civil rights that have ALREADY been taken away, I would give up abortion in a heartbeat ( ... )

The first thing I thought when I read this... sweetdecay September 12 2005, 16:31:21 UTC
"Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom
who said he was in love
He said don't worry about a thing baby doll
I'm the man you've been dreamin' of
But three months later he said
he won't date her or return her call
And she sweared god damn if I find that man
I'm cuttin' off his balls
And then she heads for the clinic & she gets some static walkin' through the doors
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner,
and they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to CHOOSE"

Regardless of what your viewpoint on abortion is, you should be horrified that someone is trying to pass a law that affects your rights to YOUR OWN BODY & your freedom of choice over YOUR OWN LIFE. Yes, the idea that our troops are in Iraq dying is far more important, but this is just another concern that needs to be addressed.
