Making lists (and checking them twice)

So it turns out I am a girl who likes structure. Actually, I'm not alone. Most human beings crave structure. My first week of unemployment was an interesting experiment in lack of structure and how I really felt lost without it. i'm a list girl too! And if even a list won't be enough to remind me, then i'll even tape notes to my clothes, keys or body parts. We've gotta do everything we can to keep ourselves on track. - lynnea

You're a morning person so this might not apply to you but just in case, from personal experience I would add to that list "Make sure you get up, take a shower, and get dressed every morning at a reasonable time." Sometimes when I'm working at home I get so caught up in things online that even though I got up to start reading work email at 6:45 a.m., I suddenly realize that it's 10 a.m. and I'm still in my bathrobe. (Unfortunately, this realization occasionally occurs when a courier rings our security buzzer to deliver an Amazon package for You Know Who.)

So true!!! Over the last few years I've read the occasional personal productivity article - how-to mostly. But over my last few weeks of being unemployed and external-structure-free (mostly!) I discovered what *I* need to do is keep and REFER to my to-do list. Remedial indeed - guess I'm just "special"...good to know I'm not alone.
