I believe beatific is the look the artists are going for when they paint Mary. Poor Mary.

I know this choice to stay home is going to lead to a magical blend of motherhood and career eventually. But in the interim, I'm glad you're writing and talking about these not-as-magical aspects of new motherhood (or new any major life thing). More women--more people--should acknowledge how difficult the best changes are. How normal it is to mourn an old life, even when the change is one you signed up for.
